As you start the testing, as Observer, you can do more or less anything, as long as you observe and note
For instance:
Ask the participants to put on the table the card they have selected as most likable.
Ask the participants to look at the results of the other participants.
Ask each participant to write on a Bristol "why" he selected that card.
Hang the Bristols on the wall and let the participants roam round the room and have a coffee;
Observe that each participant will watch whether the other ones are looking at his Bristol.
Bring the participants back to the table in groups of four
Ask each group to try and make a list (five points) of the rules that appear to guide the selection of the most likeable card.
Observe and check how the group is inter-reaction.
Did the group select a leader ?
Did the group select a working method?
Did the group repress one of the participants
How did the group handle a tentative by a participants to grab power?
Did the group reach a consensus ?
Is the consensus a democratic one, meaning that all opinions are reflected or did they choose to accept that one of them was far more clever and briliant than the others and they accepted his analysis.
Did one of the group grab power by making a show of accepting the ideas of the other participants and rephrasing them and then putting them into order and presenting this as the "opinion" of the groups.
How did the group cheat-listen tot he discussions of the other groups?
How do the groups handle the fact that the "groups" have different opinions.
AND
carefully listen to the off-the-record talk of the participants when they believe they are not watched.
Check the beginning of the formation of "us" and "them".
